Since his introduction to film, working on major productions in Australia from STAR WARS to THE MATRIX, as well as TVC’s and short films, James, on returning to New Zealand turned his focus on developing his own stories through his passion for writing.
James has made two short films. An experimental film called LOVES END, shot on 16mm. A black and white film about a proposition that turns to the unexpected. And KATE, about a married couple struggling with the realities of failing fertility. WHAT LIES BETWEEN is James’ first feature film and embodies his powerful visceral style. He is currently developing a crime thriller, CITY OF DENIAL and a romantic comedy, THE CUBAN.
DANIEL BETTY
ACTOR | PRODUCER
Daniel has worked as an actor, producer and director in film, television and theatre in the UK, Australia and New Zealand for over 25 years. He has a Bachelor of Performing and Screen Arts from Unitec in Auckland and a post graduate diploma in secondary teaching.
His recent works include; OPIA, where he was producer and an actor. A short film exploring hip-hop and graffiti culture as two teenagers connect in a disconnected world. FRISKY, as a producer, a transgender queer story about acceptance in rural New Zealand. TWITCH, as a casting and acting coach and actor, a short-film about a painter with an autonomous left-hand that paints masterpieces.
